Valentine's Day puts the emphasis on LOVE and some one special in your life. Did you ever think that YOU are that someone special in your LIFE?
Why not make this day about Loving YOURSELF! You can't Love someone else until your truly Love YOURSELF!
Self-care has been a hot topic lately, but what is it ? The basic definition states anything a person does intentionally to care for his or her mental, emotional and physical health.
Which could mean sipping on a Jamba juice smoothie, relaxing in a bubble bath, or it could mean eating brownies and squirting whip cream down your throat and watching unlimited seasons of your favorite sitcom. No judging! In your own words, it’s a way for us to all take a moment out of our daily lives to revamp and make sure we are all good! It doesn’t need to be a Social Media embracing moment, but another way to look at your inner self, get to know yourself inside out and truly know your wants and desires. It never feels like a job when it’s fun! Self-care is a must during and after the holidays!
Stella got her groove back...now it's time to get yours!
So how do you practice this thing we call self-care? It’s not the same for everybody. Pallates, candles, sipping on a hot cup of tea may not float your boat, these examples may not work for you. You may need to enjoy your favorite food at your favorite restaurant, soak in bubble bath with a couple of Bathbombs and throw on a charcoal face mask while sipping on your favorite Stella Rosa wine.
I know you're probably asking yourself how do I know that any of these ideas are going to work? First of all you have to start! Where people go wrong is that they never begin! Now take a moment and think when was the last time you truly felt relaxed. What made you feel relaxed? Ask Yourself!
Maybe it was a rainy day and you stayed in your PJs all day and watched marathons of Arrow. Self-care is all about you!!! If posting a pic on Facebook makes you feel good, then do that and do it because it feels good to YOU! Sometimes the best way to care for ourselves is doing things like listening to classical music while devouring milk and cookies or lounging with your indoor pets for hours at a time—and that’s totally okay.
Don't you ever feel like you owe anybody something! Self-care isn’t a hush hush thing, it’s part of having a balanced life!
Practice Self-care even more if you find it hard to fit it into your weekly schedule. Just Start!!!! There is no right or wrong way to care for yourself. Remember it's all about you...who cares what the naysayers think!
